Help! Doctor–I can help ewe with knitting and crochet
(Drop in help session. Minimum charge $5.)
You bring in your project for help, encouragement, analysis, fun. You’ll get your questions answered and learn the answer to any other participants’ questions that come up. Techniques covered will add to your knitting/crocheting skills as you spend time with other fiber enthusiasts.
Skills needed: knowledge of basic knitting (k & p) or crochet (ch, sc, dc) stitches
Supplies: pattern, yarn for project, several choices of hooks or needles near the one called for in your pattern, basic tools as listed at top
Most Wednesdays, 11:30–1:00. After you get back on track, join Open Knit at 1:00. Jan. 3, 10 at 12 noon, 17 & 24; Feb. 7, 14, 21. No Help Doctor on Jan. 31 or Feb. 28.

Learn to Crochet
First we’ll learn the basics of crochet and then delve into the amazing world of the single crochet and what it can do. There are so many variations on this one stitch, it can make your head spin. A simple change can make drastically different looking fabric. String a bunch together and you can make all sorts of embellishments. There is always more!
Skills needed: class assumes no knowledge of crochet
Supplies: size H hook and worsted weight yarn with at least some wool content, basic tools as listed at top.
3 class session, Wednesdays, January 10, 17, 24; 3:00–4:00; $30

Stonecrop Top

This is a simple t-top with a curved bottom edge. It is knit sideways with a bit of detail interest in the back neck area. Or you can choose to wear it the other way around and have this detail in the front. Made in a DK weight yarn such as Malabrigo Arroyo or Wonderland DK, it can easily layer over tops or be worn alone in warmer weather. Written for sizes Small through 3X, it is flattering on all body types.
Two sessions will get you through most of the back. Then you work on the front on your own (you’ve already done all the learning needed while doing the back), and block your 2 pieces. We will meet again to do the finish work of sewing seams and making armhole bands.
4 class session, Wednesdays, February 7 & 14, March 14 & 21; 3:00–4:00; $40
You do the easy knitting homework between sessions.

The Weekender

No, this won’t be knit in a weekend, but it will serve you well on many weekends when it is finished. A slouchy sweater by Andrea Mowry, that has a lot of design interest and uses a variety of techniques (tubular cast-on and bind-off, picking up sleeve stitches & short rows). I know you will love this sweater! Worsted weight yarn in sizes XS to 3X.
Multi-class session, first session Wednesday, Feb. 21. 3:00—4:00. Rest to be determined by participants.

Build your own class

Pick a technique or project and some friends who want to join you in a learning adventure. I will tailor the class(es) to your interests and schedule. We can gather at the store or in someone’s home. Endless possibilities! For example a learn to knit or crochet gathering. Your group will most likely need two or three 2-hour sessions to learn and be comfortable with the basics of either knitting or crochet.
